NHS PENSION SCHEME
Significant changes to the NHS pension scheme were implemented on 1st April 2008.
If you joined the Scheme on, or before 31 March 2008 you will be a member of the 1995 section of the NHS Pension .
If you joined on, or after 1 April 2008, you will be a member of the 2008 section of the NHS Pension Scheme.
Anyone who starts working for the NHS automatically becomes a member of the NHS Pension Scheme. However scheme membership is voluntary and one can opt not to join and leave the Scheme at any time by completing form SD502. This form is available from your employer.
Pension arrangements are imporatant decisions which should be made after considering appropriate professional advice.

NHS INJURY BENEFIT SCHEME
The NHS Injury Benefits Scheme provides an annual allowance for staff who have suffered a permanent loss of earning ability as the result of an illness or injury, wholly or mainly, attributable to their NHS employment.
