How to Select and Dispense Spectacle Lenses
This session will investigate the practical aspects of lens selection and dispensing. Using prescriptions and the various devices available to facilitate dispensing delegates and tutor will work together to evaluate patient needs and wants, how they impact on lens selection, and what old and new equipment is available to enhance the fitting process.

- Using various devices, demonstrate the different equipment, old and new, that are available from different lens manufacturers, to facilitate spectacle lens fitting.
- Using test prescriptions enable delegates to select the ideal lenses themselves, giving opportunity for full discussion of the reasons.
- Facilitate hands on inspection and use of the various lens fitting devices available today.
- Describe and demonstrate use of the various type of demonstration equipment available to show a patient the properties of different lens types, with opportunity to inspect and evaluate said devices.
- Explain the differences between different lens designs, enabling delegates to make a practical evaluation and considered choice for each patient.
