Waheeda Illahi is the deputy head of the Optometry department at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre. She has worked within the hospital eye service since her pre-registeration year and has gained extensive experience in complex hospital contact lens fitting over the last ten years. She has clinical expertise in the field of keratoconus and has developed her research interest by completing an MSc and a PhD on the subject. She was awarded a PhD entitled ‘Visual Optics and Function in Keratoconic and Post-graft eyes’ in 2004 from UMIST.
