COMPULSORY CET

The regulations regarding compulsory CET now require registrants to have 36 CET points by the end of December 2006. Those points must have been gained after January 2004 and no more than 24 can be gained before July 2005. Points gained must be registered on-line at www.cetoptics.com. Points will be registered by the course providers and all GOC registrants are required to register on that site and to check and confirm their CET points on-line.  The GOC has explained what the regulations mean for its registrants in the GOC Bulletin.

CET FUNDING

The CET allowance for optometrists who carry out GOS sight tests in 2006 and who have undertaken CET during the course of the year will be £436. The amount will be claimable in 2007and is an increase of 2.5% on the 2005 allowance.

CONFERENCES

The AOP runs a number of conferences; some are run in order to educate the profession, either clinically or in business skills (for instance the Optometry 03 congress). Some are run in order to keep members up-to-date with political developments (for instance the National Optometric Conference).

Whatever the thrust of the conference the underlying aim is always the same: to further inform the profession in general and our members in particular about any topics which are relevant to their professional lives.

Details of conferences can be found by clicking the approporiate event in the list on the left of the page.
