The Memorandum and Articles of Association are the rules by which the AOP is run. They set out the purposes for which the AOP exists together with the AOP's constitution.
In January 2002 the Memorandum and Articles of Association underwent their first major revision since 1946 when the Association of Optical Practitioners was formed. The revision made the AOP's governing body, the Council, more representative of the diversity of AOP membership.
Some further revisions were made to the Memorandum and Articles in 2004 and, most recently, at th Annual General Meeting on 16 May 2007.
