Employment law

Employment law encompasses numerous activities and is complex in its scope and interpretation.

Legal advice should be sought by both employees and employers when entering into contracts of employment and in respect of issues which may arise in the course of employment. Failure to do so could end up costing either or both parties a great deal in terms of time, money and peace of mind.

The Resource Centre on the Department for Work and Pensions’ website provides access to publications and general advice covering many activities in the arena of employment. The website of international law firm Pinsent Masons (www.out‑law.com) similarly provides a helpful overview of many employment law topics. However, it is important not to rely on this general advice to your own purposes: it is important to seek legal advice on the specific circumstances which you have which are in issue.
