Legislation exists to combat discrimination on grounds including race, sex, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation and disability. This applies to the workplace and other areas of life, and in particular disability discrimination applies to the provision of services to disabled people. The legislation seeks to ensure equal opportunities for all.
Discrimination may be direct or indirect. These terms are described on the above website, but may loosely be seen as deliberate and inadvertent, respectively.
It is very important not to be in breach of the legislation, as to do so could be costly in terms of time, money and peace of mind.
